General Description
Alpeta Agritourism is located in Roshnik village, 10 km from Berat. It is situated between Mount Tomorr, the local lake, rolling hills and acres of gorgeous vineyards where the rare, local puls varietal grows.
Thanks to its enviable position, the lucky guests who visit this place get to keep one foot in the countryside, embraced by the magical Mount Tomorr, and the other one in the historic town of Berat, one of the seven UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Albania.
Alpeta Agritourism’s services are mainly confined to the following three main areas: Winery, Restaurant & Guesthouse, Activities
Winery
The Alpeta winery is the very foundation of this family business. It was in the ’90s when, the head of the family, agronomist Beqir Fiska, successfully attempted the cultivation of a rare white grape varietal called puls. Gradually, raki production was added to the mix with the raki distillery also serving as the restaurant. The outdoor spaces of Alpeta are simply fabulous, surrounded by vineyards and located only a few meters from the village lake.
Both the wine and raki production spaces are open to any curious members of the public who would like to closely follow these processes.
The winery produces two types of wines, red and white, with a capacity of approximately 6000 bottles, all of which are traded within the Berat area.
Restaurant
The kitchen’s greatest advantage is the high-quality agricultural and livestock products cultivated in the Roshnik Village. Great dishes that stand out from the restaurant’s menu are those cooked in the saç, a traditional cooking method with a large copper pan heated by the embers of an open fire. One of the best is the lakror (pie) prepared with wild cabbage. This old-fashioned and delicious way of preparing food has always drawn curious onlookers, interested in both food and history, which is why food here is prepared in full-view of the guests.
The restaurant accommodates approximately 40 people and, thus, offers the opportunity of organizing large family or social gatherings. The interior is decorated with objects from the area, dating from the 17th century until the Communist period. The restaurant remains open year-round, from January to December.
The guesthouse is a three-story villa constructed entirely in stone, with seven guestrooms which include all necessary facilities in addition to overlooking the most stunning views of the surrounding landscape.
Activities
Because they have resided in the area for several generations, the Fiska family represents one of the best guides of Roshnik and its surroundings. The family works hard to uphold the area’s traditions as well as preserve its significant historical and natural values through the activities they offer. Pleasurable and entertaining, these activities invite you to enjoy your stay.
