If you would like to experience true Albanian hospitality, Agritourism Marku Farm is the right place to visit! This family-run farm is located in the village of Ganjollë, Guri i zi, close to Shkodra. Its location, along with it intimate atmosphere, offers a true experience of the ancient yet very much still-living tradition of hospitality.
You will have many truly memorable and authentic experiences here, such as gathering seasonal fruit and vegetables, cooking fresh produce collected from the garden, and exploring the surrounding nature, among many others. A delicious result of the gathering-and-cooking process is grandmother’s lakror, a traditional finger-licking good savory pie, filled with a variety of vegetables, dairy, and meats.
Breakfast is included in price. For other meals and extra activities around the farm an extra price is applied.
The farm offers a cozy room with a double bed and one room with two twin-sized beds. It is located about 15 km, or a 25-minute drive, from Shkodra, and 80 km, or less than two hours by car, from the International Mother Teresa Airport.
Activities
1. We gather around the loom and learn how to make authentic items from the region, the traditional way. We work on small items that we can finish within an hour. Those who work on their products can take them home as souvenirs. Seasonality: All Year
2. We learn to the cook the best traditional recipes using only fresh and local products. Some popular dishes include pies, like byrek and lakror, as well as pagaç, an oven-baked bread. We then eat the finished products complemented with other delicious foods. Seasonality: All Year
3. We pick, press and dry the farm’s olives as part of the olive oil-making process. Seasonality: (November – December)
4. We harvest seasonal fruits and turn them into fresh jams, compotes, or dried fruits. We enjoy eating them, as well! Seasonality: (May, August, September)
5. Fishing enthusiasts can fish in the farm’s reservoir, where fish naturally grow, and enjoy them served fresh on their table. Seasonality: (May – October)
